Okechukwu Okafor is a graduate of Engineering from the University of Benin. He started his career in 1991 as a Management Trainee at Academy Press PLC, Lagos and progressed to NSPM PLC (Nigerian Mint) in 1992 where he worked for 13 years rising to the position of Process Audit Manager and managing complex Banknote manufacturing processes. In one of his outstanding achievements while working with the Nigerian Mint he led the team that designed and installed complex Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Banknote and Security document manufacturing in Lagos and Abuja factories to mitigate the challenges of process integrity, after certification by De La Rue UK in 2002.

In 2006, he veered into the Telecommunication sector, joining Globacom Nig. Limited as Head, Manufacturing (Personalization and Packaging), where he pioneered Value Card manufacturing. He received an Award for “Innovative Management” during the Glo 2007 Staff Recognition Award Night.

In 2018, he joined the administration department of Enugu Electricity Distribution Limited (EEDC) introducing reforms that brought about improved accountability and efficiency in the logistics arm of the business. He was appointed the head the Administration department and also a Member of EEDC Management Procurement committee (MPC) in 2020. Subsequently in 2021, he was appointed the head of Procurement department, driving many business and process improvement initiatives that earned him an elevation to the position of Managing director of First Power Electricity distribution limited (A key subsidiary of Enugu Electricity Distribution Limited) in June, 2024. 

Okechukwu Okafor, a management reformist, ardent believer in due process, is known for his ability to redefine and instill order in a work space. He has attended several Operations and Management development courses both in Nigeria and overseas. In addition to his Engineering degree, he holds Post Graduate Degrees in Management (PGD), Project Management (MBA), and Operations Research (MSc) from Universities of Calabar, Owerri, and Lagos respectively. He also holds an international certification in Business negotiations from European business university, Luxemburg.

A fellow of Chartered Institute of Administration (CIA), member of Nigerian Institute of Marketing (NIMN) and American Institute of Industrial Engineers, Mr. Okafor is married with children.
